Role: Backend Java Developer – Capital Markets (FX Systems)

Location: London – Hybrid - 3 days client location / 2 days WFH

Start Date: September / October

End Date: 6 months

Rate Breakdown

  • Daily Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Daily ACR: £308.33, plus daily holiday pay of £37.21
  • Equivalent annual salary: £80,164.68 (including holiday paid upfront)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Deloitte Operations for an engagement with one of our clients.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Java Developer with expertise in Spring Boot and Hibernate to join our dynamic team supporting Capital Markets clients. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications that power FX trading and related financial systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain critical components of our FX platforms, ensuring robustness and efficiency in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Develop and thoroughly test secure RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and tools such as Postman.
  • Integrate and manage databases leveraging Spring Data JPA and Hibernate ORM, specifically for FX trading systems.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, QA engineers, and business analysts to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure system reliability and scalability.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in Java development and Capital Markets.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience building robust, scalable server-side applications, RESTful APIs, and microservices using Java.
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA.
  • Hands-on experience with Hibernate ORM for database integration.
  • Experience working with FX applications or Capital Markets systems is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle, version control, and agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
