About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer / Developer with expertise in C#.Net API development and SQL to join a major rebuild project within a prominent international payments platform. This role is based in Bracknell, with flexible work-from-home arrangements allowing you to work remotely most of the time, with occasional visits to the office twice a week. As part of a small, autonomous engineering team, you will be instrumental in modernizing backend services and developing the next generation of the platform. This is a hands-on position that offers genuine technical ownership, enabling you to lead the delivery of new features and contribute significantly to the evolution of the system’s architecture.

Qualifications
- Strong background in backend development with specific experience in C#.Net Core.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs.
- Solid understanding of SQL databases and query optimization.
- Familiarity with system design, software architecture, microservices, and event-driven systems.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS (highly desirable).
- Track record of mentoring fellow engineers and sharing technical knowledge effectively.
- Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot (advantageous).
- While experience in finance or payments is not mandatory, it will be viewed favorably.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable APIs and backend services using C#.Net Core.
- Modernize existing services and contribute to the comprehensive rebuild of the Corporate Payments platform.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of new features and technical projects, from initial design to deployment in production.
- Apply system design principles, including microservices architecture and event-driven systems, to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL databases and queries to support platform performance and reliability.
- Develop, maintain, and improve automated testing frameworks to uphold high-quality standards.
- Work with cloud platforms such as AWS to deploy, manage, and monitor services in production environments.
- Leverage AI development tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot to enhance engineering productivity and code quality.
- Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
