About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer / Developer with expertise in Python and Large Language Models (LLMs) to join our dynamic team remotely from the UK. This senior role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a modern tech stack within a scaling AI software solutions provider. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining production-grade AI systems and supporting infrastructure. Your work will directly impact the evolution of our conversational AI platform, enabling more intelligent and responsive interactions for our clients.

In this role, you will take ownership of complex technical challenges, make independent decisions, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions. You will be instrumental in assessing our existing platform, identifying areas for modernization, and helping to shape the architecture to support future AI capabilities. This is a hands-on position requiring a proactive approach, technical expertise, and a passion for building scalable, reliable AI-driven applications.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a backend Python software engineer, with a strong understanding of software development best practices.
  • Hands-on experience deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) into production environments.
  • Solid understanding of conversational AI workflows, including backend services and infrastructure required for reliable operation at scale.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and knowledge of related technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, and asynchronous Python.
  • Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and take ownership of projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, collaborative mindset, and pragmatic approach to technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend systems to support conversational AI applications.
  • Implement and optimize AI workflows, integrating third-party AI services and LLMs to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Assess existing architecture, identify modernization opportunities, and contribute to the evolution of the technology stack.
  • Ensure the infrastructure supports high availability, security, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative AI solutions.
  • Take ownership of technical decisions, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices for software development and deployment.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
