Your mission

As an Intermediate Backend Software Engineer, you will work across our portfolio of products, including our core cloud engine processing tens of thousands of commits every day and our command-line and IDE tools.

We work remotely, asynchronously whenever possible, and value written communication, thoughtful design discussions, and collaborative code reviews.

What will be your day-to-day:

  • Contribute to a product-focused squad, developing core features and components.
  • Take ownership of features from design and implementation through deployment and monitoring.
  • Design, develop, test, and optimize backend services in Scala, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Sometimes contribute to tools in other stacks, predominantly TypeScript and Go projects.
  • Work with technologies like cats-effect, http4s, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback to help maintain high standards for quality, testing, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate on technical design discussions and architecture decisions, continuously improving our systems and engineering practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and non-production issues.
  • Improve deployment pipelines, observability, and production reliability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
