Role: Backend Systems Developer

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000

Location: Liverpool

Working Pattern: Hybrid

We’re working with an ambitious, technology-led organisation that is continuing to invest significantly in its engineering function. They’re looking for an experienced Backend Systems Developer to join the team and play a key role in developing and improving the integrations that underpin their digital platform.

This is a great opportunity to work on business-critical systems where performance, scalability, and reliability are essential. You’ll be responsible for developing backend services that connect customer-facing applications with warehouse, ERP, finance, and wider operational platforms, supporting the accurate and efficient movement of millions of data points every day.

If you enjoy working on complex integrations, developing robust backend services, and solving technical challenges, this could be an excellent opportunity to take you forward.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend integrations between digital platforms and core business systems, including warehouse, ERP, and finance solutions.
  • Build scalable middleware to support order processing, inventory synchronization, and real-time data exchange.
  • Create and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations across multiple systems.
  • Implement queue-based processing to support high-volume asynchronous workloads.
  • Improve system resilience through retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and fault-tolerant design.
  • Work closely with engineers, product teams, and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
  • Contribute to engineering standards and best practice through code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop modern, cloud-ready services using clean, maintainable, and scalable architecture.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
