About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Systems Developer to join Candour Solutions' dynamic engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend integrations that form the backbone of our clients' digital platforms. Your work will directly impact the seamless flow of data between customer-facing applications and core operational systems such as warehouse management, ERP, and finance platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-volume systems that demand performance, scalability, and reliability. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, operational stakeholders, and fellow engineers, to deliver robust and efficient backend services that support business-critical processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four years of professional experience in backend software development, with a proven track record of working with strongly typed programming languages. You should have hands-on experience integrating complex business-critical systems with ERP, warehouse management, or finance platforms. Strong SQL skills, including database design and performance optimization, are essential. A solid understanding of software architecture principles such as SOLID, Clean Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design is required. Familiarity with modern development practices like CI/CD, automated testing, and version control with Git is expected. Additionally, experience with containerization tools like Docker, message queues, and event-driven architectures will be highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are vital for success in this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
