The Job:
To be a part of our artisan bakery team. Rising early, to make bread and pastries for our Brighton community in the heart of the North Laine. Working in a busy workers’ co-operative established in 1971.
You:
Someone who has past experience working in a bakery and/or with pastry, and takes genuine pride in their craft. Whether you know your focaccia from your fougasse or are simply excited by the rhythm of an early morning bakery, you'll thrive in an environment where quality, care, and teamwork come first.
The ideal person is self-motivated, reliable, and happy to roll up their sleeves to tackle the daily demands of a busy bakery. They enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, communicate well, and bring a positive, can-do attitude to every shift. Beyond baking skills, we're looking for someone who can make thoughtful decisions with the co-operative's values at heart, embracing our commitment to sustainability, fairness, and producing outstanding organic food for our community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
