The Baker Role

The Baker role is a hands-on position suited to someone with a genuine passion for viennoiserie, baking, and exceptional craftsmanship. Based within our production bakery, you will play a key role in producing best-in-class pastries and baked goods for our Houses, ensuring every item is crafted with precision, consistency, and attention to detail.

You will be actively involved in all aspects of the baking process, from dough preparation, lamination, and fermentation through to baking and finishing. Using strong technical knowledge and baking expertise, you will help maintain exceptional product quality and consistency across all production. Alongside this, you will uphold the highest standards of food safety, organisation, and cleanliness, while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment that values quality, continuous improvement, and a shared passion for great baking.

Directly reports into (Line Manager): Bakery Production Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Viennoiserie production - from-scratch lamination of pastry products in a high volume production bakery.
  • Producing a wide range of cakes, cookies, and tarts for a growing number of WatchHouses.
  • Utilise production schedules diligently to ensure daily orders are completed in full.
  • Ensure consistent quality by following operating procedures and product specifications.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with Bakery Assistants to foster team development.
  • Help to minimise wastage by following effective stock management principles.
  • Maintain highest standards of both cleanliness and record keeping to ensure the bakery is fully compliant with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with management team to develop and launch seasonal products.
  • Report any maintenance issues promptly to management to safeguard working environment.

Key to this Role:

  • 1 year lamination experience in a high-volume wholesale bakery.
  • Good knowledge of fundamental kitchen and bakery techniques.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to work collaboratively with the rest of the team - approaching all interactions with empathy.
  • Genuine passion for food and desire to deliver best in class products to our Houses.
  • Constant drive to improve, staying curious and focused on solutions.
  • Diligence to go the extra step, keeping a close eye on every detail.
