At Ole & Steen, every product leaving our stores carries our name — and we're looking for someone who understands exactly what that means.

We need a reliable, motivated Bakery Assistant to support daily production of our high-quality bakery products — from ingredient prep through to packing — with real attention to detail and hygiene standards.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • £13.80 per hour
  • 5 days out of 7, including 1 weekend day
  • 45 hours per week
  • Reporting to the Team Leader

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or bakery production desirable but not essential
  • Ability to follow written recipes, production instructions and work standards
  • Good attention to detail and basic numerical skills
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold and humid environments, and able to lift/move products up to 20kg
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2) desirable, or willingness to obtain
  • Flexible to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends where required

  • Preparing ingredients and raw materials to recipe and production plan, weighing accurately
  • Assisting Bakers in producing breads, viennoiserie, pastries and other products
  • Operating bakery equipment safely, following standard operating procedures
  • Supporting dough handling, proving, baking prep and finishing
  • Packing, labelling and preparing products to company quality standards
  • Carrying out visual quality checks and reporting defects immediately
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards, clean-as-you-go, and correct waste disposal
  • Assisting with stock rotation (FIFO) and replenishment
  • Working collaboratively with Bakers, Team Leaders, Technical, Stores and Pick & Pack
