Role Purpose
To work as part of a team to facilitate the manufacturing of our product within the bakery environment. To be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery that bakes our products or supports the manufacturing process. The Bakery Operative will also ensure that food safety standards and procedures are always followed. To contribute to excellent service, delivery quality and safety whilst providing support as reasonably required across the bakery; to be a flexible and committed team member focussed on high levels of quality and service delivery.
This role covers:
- Ingredients make up/stores
- Production
- Slicing
- Tub/Basket Wash

Key Activities
Service
- Deliver the best possible production of our products in alignment with site and customer requirements and standards; ensuring this is maintained across the bakery environment.
- To operate and maintain machinery within the factory as operationally required in accordance with food and health & safety standards and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the working environment, following cleaning best practice procedure.
- Complete all hygiene documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in customer visits and audits as required.

Delivery
- Proactively drive down waste by implementing our ‘see it, flag it, fix it’ ethos.
- Take accountability for the delivery of high quality and safe product to our customers.
Quality
- Adhere to technical specifications for products without compromise.
- Remain vigilant and report any quality issues immediately to a member of the management team.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to hygiene standards in the workplace.
- Use knowledge and experience to anticipate and solve problems within a reasonable scope.
- Complete production documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Safety
- Work safely at all times; adhere to all health and safety instructions and procedures, work instructions and procedures.
- Take personal responsibility for absolute compliance to Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
- Report any health and safety risks, or potential hazards immediately to a member of the management team.
- Remain vigilant and be accountable for the shipment of high quality and safe product; report any safety issues immediately to a member of the management team.
- Complete robust daily checks to ensure the safety and integrity of our machinery.
- Support the HSE department in the maintenance and improvement of Safe Systems of Work and incident investigations.

Teamwork
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver against KPI targets.
- Actively participate in training and development activities.
- Proactively support and work with technical, safety and engineering departments to provide and develop excellent hygiene and safety standards and support in the facilitation of maintenance as required.
Ad-Hoc
- To carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the management team to support the operational needs of the business.

Essential Role Criteria
- Able to carry out manual handling.
- Able to work in either/or a hot/cold environment.
- Able to work both day and night shifts.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills or Experience
- Basic Food Hygiene Certification.
- Experience of working within a food manufacturing environment. Bakery experience preferred.
- Awareness of the importance of health and safety. SHE Level 1 Certification preferred.
- Manual Handling Training.
