Overview Of Role

Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, is a hub for transactional activity across multiple ABF companies within the ABF Grocery division. Supporting some of our well-known brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon, amongst others. We deliver Shared Service activities across a wide range of disciplines including Customer Services, Consumer Care, Finance, Payroll, HR and IS.

We are seeking Bakery Operatives to join our production team.

We are looking for motivated and hardworking Bakery Operatives to join our fast-paced production team in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. If you enjoy hands-on work and want to build a career in food manufacturing, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

  • Location: Hovis Bakeries, Newcastle-under-Lyme.
  • Salary: Starting at £28,791.60 increasing to £32,172.07 after successful completion of training.
  • Shifts: Average of 42 hours per week. This role operates 12-hour rotating shifts, on a varied shift pattern, including night work and weekends.

What You Need To Know

As a Bakery Operative, you will play a key role in producing high-quality bakery products within a busy and highly regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Engage in the Safety First culture and compliance with AB internal policies and procedures
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and housekeeping
  • Monitor product quality and consistency
  • Support the efficient operation of production lines
  • Take part in training and development activities, including 1-to-1 sessions

This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced factory environment, so resilience, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential.

The Right Person

Essential

  • Good awareness of Health, Safety and Food Safety
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills, including record keeping and following instructions
  • A positive can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn

Advantageous

  • Understanding and application of food hygiene/GMP/ABSS standards
  • Understanding of baking process
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate IOSH or equivalent
