Company Description

Bluebirds Ballet School Ltd, founded in 2010, has grown from a small school for young children into one of London’s leading ballet schools. The school offers a range of dance classes, including Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Progressive Ballet Technique™, Adult Ballet, and Silver Swans for learners above 55. All students aged five and above follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and take annual examinations, with options to combine classical training with strengthening classes. Classes are available from age two onwards, including Melody Bear™ sessions that introduce toddlers and pre-schoolers to dance and music in a fun, structured way. The teaching team is fully RAD-qualified and focuses on strong technique, expressive performance, and building confidence in every student.

Role Description

The Ballet Teacher (RAD) will deliver high-quality ballet classes to children and young people following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, ensuring safe, progressive training and preparation for examinations. The role includes:

The teacher will communicate with parents and guardians as needed, support students’ performance opportunities, and collaborate with the school’s team to uphold Bluebirds Ballet School’s standards. Responsibilities also include basic administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, exam entry coordination, and adherence to safeguarding policies.

This is a part-time, on-site role based in London, NW3.

Qualifications

  • Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teaching qualification or equivalent recognized professional ballet teaching credential.
  • Strong classical ballet technique and knowledge of RAD syllabi, including experience preparing students for graded and vocational examinations.
  • Experience teaching children and young people of varied ages and abilities, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
  • Understanding of safe dance practice, child development, and age-appropriate progression, including effective warm-up, stretching, and injury-prevention techniques.
  • Clear, supportive communication skills and the ability to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
  • Strong class management and organizational skills, including lesson planning, time management, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and student welfare; willingness to undertake or hold an enhanced DBS check.
  • Interest or experience in complementary techniques such as contemporary dance, commercial dance, or adult ballet is beneficial.
