Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Patient Porter to join the Portering department at Solihull Hospital.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering the best service and care to our service users and clinical colleagues, the ideal candidate will need to be hardworking, dynamic and passionate about succeeding as part of a team.

The post holder will be an integral part of the service provision that the Portering Department provides to the Trust and Solihull Hospital, and will be vital in supporting the demand of patient flow, servicing all areas within the hospital.

We are looking for new members of the team who feel they are compassionate and respectful, and enthusiastic in delivering the best possible care to our patients. The post holder will need to be flexible, as this role includes working a rotating shift pattern covering early, late, night and weekend shifts.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

All Patient Porters will be responsible for the safe movement of patients, using wheelchairs, beds and trollies.

They will be integral in supporting the clinical teams with all requirements within the job description.

Porters are responsible for the movement and safe transportation of waste, including clinical waste around the site.

Porters are responsible for collecting blood products, moving patient samples and attending medical emergencies.

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Physically able to undertake all duties and comply with all relevant Trust policies (E)
  • Flexible and reliable for the needs of the service (E)
  • Willingness to suggest, assist and implement any changes to improve our standard of care (E)
  • Must hold a UK driving licence up to a maximum of 6 points due to Commercial Vehicle Insurance (Applicable Porter Driver posts only) (E)
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and to work within established guidelines (E)

Desirable

  • Minimum 2 years driving experience (D)
