Job Summary

If you are looking to work alongside a friendly team and have an empathetic ear with amazing typing skills and are a quick learner, come and join our team. The role is to support the typing of clinic letters and documents, book appointments, and liaise with patients and third parties, and therefore, a good telephone manner is needed. The successful candidate would also be supporting the Senior Medical Secretaries when they are away with support for typing and other duties befitting the role.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

We are looking for a Part-time (15hrs pw) Medical Support Secretary whose duties will include:

  • Typing of clinic letters and documents
  • Booking appointments
  • Liaising with patients and third parties over the telephone with incoming and outgoing calls
  • Ensuring that the patients pathway is accurately recorded and documented to ensure smooth transition through the department

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good General Education (e.g., GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
  • Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment

Desirable

  • AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
  • Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience of using IT systems

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a busy environment
  • Experience of working in Healthcare
