Job Overview
An opportunity has emerged for a motivated and appropriately skilled Health Care Assistant / Support, Time & Recovery Worker (STR Worker) to join the award-winning Dementia Crisis Support team.
The team covers a large geographical area - Basildon, Brentwood, and Thurrock. We support service users and their carers in their own homes and in residential and nursing care homes. The team is based at Corringham Integrated Medical and Wellbeing Centre.
The team’s aim is to support people in their usual place of residence and to avoid a Hospital admission.
We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and resourceful individual who is committed to providing support and assistance to service users and their carers who live with Dementia.
You will need experience of working with adults living with dementia and an interest in working with service users in a community setting.
Due to the community-based nature of this role, you will need to have a valid UK Driving Licence and access to a car.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible and passionate about providing good quality Dementia care. The candidate will need to effectively travel across a wide geographical patch, and public transport is limited.

Main Duties of the Job
The Successful Applicant Should
- Be able to evidence a good General Education to GCSE or equivalent
- Have relevant experience in working with people who live with Dementia where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of an understanding of the need to use an enabling approach
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, have good time management skills, and be able to prioritise workload effectively.
- Be able to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills especially when handling conflict and change, and should have the appropriate skills to facilitate the resolution of difficulties.
- Show willingness to work unsocial hours when necessary and be able to provide high levels of emotional and practical support to service users and carers. The services operational hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm and weekends and bank holidays 9am to 5pm. These shifts will be on a rota basis.
- The post can be emotionally demanding and the applicant will be expected to be able to address and explore this within supervision, team meetings, and also within informal work-related support systems.

The team provides assessment, advice, and treatment. We also act as a signposting service to other teams and organisations as appropriate. Dementia Crisis Support Team offers individual interventions for service users and their carers aimed towards preventing a Hospital admission and supporting the recovery of the crisis.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
High Cost Area Supplement Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow, and Dartford only)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time).
