Qualifications

Essential

  • Numerate and Literate
  • GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English Language or equivalent.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in admin / related field or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years' administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare, NHS, or busy office environment.
  • Extensive experience providing high-level secretarial and administrative support to senior managers.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications, including:
    • Microsoft Excel (creating and maintaining spreadsheets, analysing data, producing reports, formulas, and staff rostering information).
    • Microsoft Word (producing professional correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and presentations).
    • Microsoft Outlook (managing complex diaries, email correspondence, and meeting coordination).
    • Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience managing electronic and paper-based filing systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience of organising meetings, preparing agendas, and taking accurate minutes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft correspondence using initiative and judgement.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information in accordance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, using initiative to resolve administrative issues and support service delivery.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing staffing data, reports, financial records, and ward documentation.

  • Good working with IT applications including Microsoft Office Packages (ie. Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Understanding the need for confidentiality and to remain impartial.
  • Knowledge of need for prevention of cross infection.
