The South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust (SEHSCT) is one of Northern Ireland's largest public sector organisations, delivering vital health and social care services across the region. An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Finance Officer to join the Finance Team based at Ards Community Hospital.

Your new role

As a Band 5 Finance Officer, you will support budget management, financial reporting, and financial analysis across designated service areas. Working closely with Finance Managers and senior stakeholders, you will provide financial information and support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting annual budget setting and ongoing budget monitoring.
  • Preparing financial reports and analysing financial performance.
  • Investigating variances and assisting managers with budget queries.
  • Supporting efficiency, recovery, and contingency planning.
  • Completing month-end activities, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Producing ad hoc reports and responding to financial enquiries.
  • Assisting with the development of financial systems and reporting tools.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A university degree with 2 years' relevant finance experience, or AAT/HND qualification with 2 years' relevant finance experience, or Part-qualified with a CCAB-recognised body and 1 year's relevant finance experience, or 3 years' relevant finance experience at Band 4 level.
  • Strong Excel skills with experience analysing large volumes of data.
  • Knowledge of accruals, prepayments, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car as you may need to attend other SEHSCT sites every so often.

  • Immediate start available.
  • 9-12 month contract.
  • Full-time hours (37.5 per week).
  • Hybrid working (3 office / 2 home following training period).
  • Based at Ards Community Hospital, Newtownards.
