Job Summary
Are you looking to build your experience as a Speech and Language Therapist within a supportive and welcoming community team?
We have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Service in Solihull. This communication-focused role offers the chance to work with adults with a range of acquired communication disorders across community settings, including patients' own homes, care homes and outpatient clinics.
Based at Solihull Hospital, within walking distance of Solihull town centre and excellent transport links, you will be joining a friendly and experienced team committed to providing person-centred, evidence-based care. We are passionate about supporting staff development and offer regular supervision, peer support and opportunities to develop your skills in a rewarding community setting.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
The successful candidate will manage a defined caseload of adults with communication difficulties, providing assessment, intervention and review within community settings across Solihull.
You will work closely with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and deliver person-centred therapy programmes that maximise communication, participation and independence. The role includes undertaking home visits, maintaining accurate clinical records, contributing to service development activities, and participating in supervision and continuing professional development.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You should be organised, adaptable and committed to delivering high-quality care. Support and supervision will be provided by experienced senior Speech and Language Therapists, making this an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills and confidence within a supportive community service.

Qualifications
Essential
- Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification
- Current registration with Health Care Professions Council or eligible for registration no later than September 2026.
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
Experience
Essential
- Undergraduate clinical experience in relevant clinical areas
- Competence in the management of communication disorders
- Knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group)
- Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group)
- Awareness of the principles of clinical governance /audit
- Awareness of communication, cultural and communication-impairment issues of clients from ethnic minorities.
- Sound knowledge of IT

- Postgraduate experience in relevant clinical areas

- Able to judge limits of skills/competence and professional boundaries.
- Insight into own CPD needs and appropriate strategies for addressing them.
- An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis
- Valid UK driving license and use of a car is essential
