Eating Disorder Intensive Service Nurse
The Intensive Service utilises both face-to-face and remote working to offer a range of group, individual and family-based therapies, as well as offering time to enable the young person to continue their education. The Intensive Service provides a unique opportunity to be involved in this developing modality of treatment, which provides seamless care for patients and their families/carers.
The Intensive Service aims to promote faster recovery, reduce relapse rates, and avoid protracted Tier 4 residential admissions.
Role Overview
The post holder will provide clinical expertise with specific emphasis on eating disorders, and also contribute to the operational management and strategic development of the Intensive Service. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders Service and will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management. The post holder will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit, and ensure delivery of clinically safe, high quality care for all service users. The post holder will need to work flexibly to address the unique requirements of the Intensive Service.

Duties
- Work within a nursing team caring for young people with eating disorders.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Establish the role within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist with efficient and effective nursing care.
- Lead the nursing team throughout a shift, supporting the decision making and showing accountability for junior members of the team.
- Advocate for young people you are nursing and their families.
- Ensure safe evidence-based clinical practice and demonstrate clinical expertise, and have delegated responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient care in a rich variety of arenas: outpatient and day patient treatment; facilitation / support for paediatric inpatient treatment for medical stabilisation and psychiatric emergencies; outreach and in-reach treatment.
- Work in collaboration with the Sister/Charge Nurse and other Senior Nurses and the multi-disciplinary team to promote the unique philosophy of the Intensive Service.
- Continue personal nursing development & education.
- Ensure the supervision and development of all nurses, students, and support workers for whom they are responsible.
