Band 5 Scrub Nurse

We are seeking a Band 5 Scrub Nurse to join the Day Surgery Theatres team at Hadley Wood Hospital on a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover.

The post holder will provide safe, effective and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Working within the multidisciplinary theatre team, they will undertake scrub duties, maintain aseptic practice and contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of surgical care across a range of specialties.

• Undertake scrub duties, preparing for and supporting surgical procedures in accordance with your competence and local policies.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment and the theatre environment before operating lists.
• Maintain aseptic technique and high standards of infection prevention and control.
• Participate in surgical safety checks and ensure the safe handling and accurate counting of instruments, swabs and sharps.
• Handle, label and document specimens safely in accordance with local procedures.
• Recognise and escalate patient safety concerns or issues affecting the safe running of an operating list.
• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Support students and less experienced colleagues, and take part in learning, audit and quality improvement.
