Job Summary

At UHB, based at Solihull Hospital, we are committed to providing outstanding care for patients with complex rheumatological conditions whilst supporting our staff to develop and thrive.
As a CNS, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis and other rheumatological conditions. Working within a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will undertake holistic assessments, monitor disease activity, support patients receiving DMARD, biologic and targeted therapies, and provide expert education and advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
You will contribute to nurse-led clinics, telephone advice services and virtual reviews, developing autonomous practice whilst ensuring safe, effective and compassionate care. The role also offers opportunities to participate in service development, quality improvement projects, audit and governance activities, helping to shape the future of Rheumatology services.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

At Solihull Hospital, you will join a supportive and forward-thinking Rheumatology team dedicated to delivering high-quality patient-centred care and developing specialist nursing practice. As a Band 6 Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert care and support to patients with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, vasculitis and other rheumatological conditions.
You will undertake comprehensive patient assessments, monitor disease activity, develop and evaluate personalised care plans, and support patients receiving DMARDs, biologic and targeted therapies. Working within agreed competencies, you will deliver nurse-led clinics, telephone consultations and virtual reviews, ensuring patients receive timely advice, education and ongoing support.
The role requires close collaboration with consultants, pharmacists, allied health professionals and primary care colleagues to ensure coordinated, seamless care. You will act as a key point of contact for patients and carers, promoting self-management, supporting treatment adherence and responding appropriately to disease flares or treatment-related concerns.

Main Duties Continued
You will contribute to rheumatology advice lines, maintain accurate clinical records and ensure care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies, NMC standards and evidence-based practice. You will also participate in clinical audit, quality improvement projects, service development and education initiatives, supporting the continuous improvement of rheumatology services across UHB.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Portfolio of certified / accredited post registration professional development.
Desirable
- Health Assessment post graduate qualification / willingness to work towards
Experience
Essential
- Post registration experience with evidence of knowledge and development for the associated area of specialist practice.
- In depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for role, with willingness to undertake further training/ education to achieve agreed level of competence.
- Knowledge of standards and policies associated with role.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of the national / NHSE diagnostic/ therapeutic expectations / strategy around endoscopy services and can relate this to the role.
- Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance / patient safety process's -- can relate this to the role in relation to their personal/professional accountability.

- Excellent written, verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow complex instructions consistently in relation to the delivery of endoscopy practice.
