Job Overview
We are hoping to welcome a Band 6 clinician to join the Specialist Autism Team for a fixed term period of 24 months. We are an ambitious and energetic multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting Autistic Young People aged 14 and over and Autistic adults to understand their Autism. We aim to support our service users to access thoughtful Autism-aware care. For this post, we are able to consider applicants who are registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists or Speech and Language Therapists.
The post holder will need to have the skills and character to consistently deliver high quality care, advocate effectively for the best interests of our service users, and work creatively at pace with colleagues, carers and our service users’ relatives. The successful applicant will become a vital participant in this exciting service. We work in an area of growth and we are hoping to recruit a candidate who is excited by the potential for change and service development. We are an ambitious and innovative team with an active interest in learning and a determination to reduce inequality and improve the quality and accessibility of the services we support. Your commitment to supporting our service users and your ability to meet the requirements of the job description will be evident in your application, but through the recruitment process you will also show us your appreciation of their needs and your track record of improving care. The successful candidate will have an appreciation and understanding of the range of approaches to supporting autistic people from within the theory and research base of their own discipline.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
- To work as a specialist clinician to utilise, develop and enhance clinical and professional skills within the Service, in order to deliver high standards of practice.
- To work collaboratively within a Multi-Disciplinary format providing specialist assessment and treatment in clinical care pathways, in accordance with the post holder's clinical registration.
- To contribute to a range of clinical functions within the team, including triaging referrals, undertaking assessment and overseeing queries on duty.
- To deliver a specialist autism-aware service to patients within a variety of settings, requiring flexibility/adaptability in recognising the complexity of these environments to maximise their abilities and opportunities for health and wellbeing.
