Job Summary
Are you a nurse with an interest in colorectal surgical nursing and looking for a new challenge? If you are, an exciting opportunity has become available within the Colorectal CNS team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a Band 6 Colorectal CNS. This is a part-time permanent position (30 hours). The post holder will work within an established CNS team to provide clinical services to patients with colorectal conditions, supporting consultant and nurse-led clinics, as well as providing in-patient stoma and fistula care. Experience in colorectal and/or gastroenterology nursing would be beneficial, as would experience in multidisciplinary and cross-agency working. This is a diverse role with plentiful opportunities for professional development, working within a supportive and friendly team.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
This role involves working closely with an established multidisciplinary team, in addition to ward and community staff, to achieve seamless care for our patients. The ability to work autonomously is also necessary, as the role involves providing assessment and treatment independently in nurse-led clinics. Excellent communication skills are essential to provide the necessary care and support for patients and their families receiving a diagnosis with long-term implications for their quality of life or a life-limiting illness. Teaching is a core responsibility and a commitment to providing education for colleagues and patients will be required. The Colorectal CNS team is committed to providing consistently high standards of nursing care with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
