We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Network Support Engineer to join our Technical Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with enterprise-scale network technologies that support critical clinical and business services across our hospital sites.
As part of a specialist infrastructure team, you will help maintain and develop our network environment, troubleshoot technical issues, support service improvements, and contribute to digital transformation initiatives that directly impact patient care.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- Experience supporting enterprise network environments
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS
- Experience with Cisco and/or Extreme networking technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Relevant networking qualification (e.g. CCNA) or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
- Specialist knowledge of network technologies, supported by relevant training, with practical experience of supporting and maintaining complex LAN and WAN environments, including routing and switching, network security controls, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud based networking services.
Desirable
- ITIL Foundation or Practitioner
- Recognised Networking qualification such as Cisco CCNA.
- Cyber Security related qualification/cert or extensive experience working on network security platforms
Experience
Essential
- Experience in technical support role gained while working in a enterprise environment.
- Understanding of key protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
- Understanding of Network Security principles
- Experienced in Wired and Wireless troubleshooting methodology's
- An understanding of Cybersecurity readiness, response, and recovery, including:
- ISO/IEC 27001
- Cyber Essentials

Desirable
- Experience in supporting Cisco access layer
- Experience in supporting Extreme access layer and Extreme Wi Fi
- Experience in Checkpoint Firewall'
- Experience in administering of Forescout NA
- Experience of working with a large healthcare or public sector organisation.
- Understanding of DSPT/CAF requirements
- Working knowledge of other cloud providers e.g., AWS, Google.
- Experience of cloud networking and security, particularly Azure ExpressRoute, virtual WAN and Azure Firewall.
Additional Criteria
Essential
- Experience of Network Operating Systems (Cisco IOS, Linux, Windows etc)
- Experience of IP address Management, subnetting, DHCP, DNS
- Understanding of Firewall principles
- Troubleshooting -- ability to diagnose wired and wireless connectivity and performance issues using relevant tools.
- Willingness when required to participate in a on-call rota to provide support for out of hours critical incidents
- Able to work and travel across all sites as required by the job role.
- Demonstrate flexibility to support key milestones when needed.
Desirable
- Training and supporting colleagues to develop competencies within the team.
- Basic scripting skills using PowerShell, Terraform, or similar.
- Ekahau Sidekick site survey tool usage
