Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner

The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides multi-disciplinary specialised care throughout the West Midlands, to treat mothers with mental health problems, both during pregnancy and in the first year post-partum. There is also a community outreach team as well as a 10-bed inpatient Unit at the Barberry. The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) will see perinatal services expanding its remit to seeing approximately 10% of the birth rate, seeing women for up to 2 years postnatally.

Solihull Perinatal Team

Solihull Perinatal Team provides a specialist perinatal service for women living in the Solihull Borough or with a Solihull GP, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental illness during the perinatal period.

We are seeking an additional mental health practitioner from a nursing or social work background to join this new service to contribute their clinical skills and care coordinate a specialist caseload.

Requirements

Applicants will need to have a genuine interest in working with women and families in the perinatal period, have excellent communication and multi-agency liaison skills, and have good knowledge of safeguarding. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable but not essential. We are committed to equal opportunities and the development of our staff and will provide a robust induction programme. We also provide regular supervision and training for all our staff.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
