Hourly Rate: £27 - £29

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Deputy Dispensary Manager to join the pharmacy team in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled pharmacy technician with dispensary and leadership experience to support the day-to-day management of dispensary services within a specialist mental health setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Dispensary Manager and wider pharmacy team to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pharmacy services. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to service development, medicines optimisation, and quality improvement initiatives while supporting staff and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operational management of the hospital dispensary service.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians, assistants, and support staff.
  • Ensure the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medicines in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Undertake and support medicines reconciliation activities to enhance patient safety.
  • Assist with workforce planning, staff training, and competency assessments.
  • Contribute to audit, service improvement, and specialist pharmacy projects.
  • Monitor compliance with medicines legislation, governance requirements, and departmental standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Have extensive post-qualification experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Possess a supervisory or management qualification, or equivalent management experience.
  • Demonstrate significant hospital dispensary experience at Senior Pharmacy Technician level.
  • Have experience working within Mental Health pharmacy services.
  • Possess experience undertaking medicines reconciliation.
  • Have previous involvement in specialist projects, audits, or service improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and proactively with limited supervision.
  • Have excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
