Job Summary
Are you a band 5 looking for progression or a band 6 looking for a change in your career, then look no further.
Here is your opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic and ever evolving therapy team, at Heartlands hospital as part of UHB.
You will be working as part of the therapy team and the wider Multidisciplinary team supporting patients to return home as soon as possible.
We need an excellent team worker with knowledge across a range of Physiotherapy treatments. In return we offer you the opportunity to develop your clinical and interdisciplinary team working skills, supporting your career development with an individualised personal development plan, closely supported by your team lead. You will receive supervision regularly as part of our new more supportive structure in addition to annual appraisals, to support your immediate and longer term goals.
You will be joining a team in a fast paced hospital with the vision of building healthier lives for the local community, there is therefore lots of opportunity to support with the development of the service to ensure that the ever changing needs of the community are met.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
To provide individualised therapeutic assessments, management and treatment of patients in a variety of wards within the hospital setting. Focussing interventions to a wide variety of clinical cases across the acute hospital wards, applying Physiotherapy knowledge and the therapeutic process. There will be a strong focus on facilitating the discharges home, or to other care pathways and ensure that their person specific ongoing rehab needs are met by the most appropriate services.
- Excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills
- Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team
- Undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records
- Assisting with supervision, education and co-ordination of more junior qualified staff, generic support workers and students
- Engage in the service development process
- Support with the collection of data, and supporting the implementation of changes within the immediate team
- Deputise for your team lead
You will be expected to work as part of a 7 day service and will be contributing to the emergency out of hours respiratory service and so previous experience of this is essential.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC)
- A levels or equivalent qualification
- Good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English grade C and above
- Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality
Desirable
- Member of specialist interest group
- Attendance at Clinical Educators course
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients within this speciality / within the NHS with experience of elderly and frail elderly, respiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
- Experience of working on a physiotherapy on-call service
- Experience of working with student physiotherapists and assistants
- An ability to analyse clinical and non-clinical complex facts and situations, which require the interpretation and comparison of a range of options
- An ability to plan, organise, formulate and adjust complex plans
- An ability to supervise and delegate work to physiotherapists, assistants and students

- Experience within speciality area

- An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis
- An ability to cope with frequent exposure to distressing /emotional situations
- An ability to work as team leader, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- An ability to motivate and develop the team
- Able to contribute to the 7 day weekend service, extended out of hours and overnight on-call Respiratory Physiotherapy service
