Job Summary
Solihull Community Therapy Team
Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist looking to develop your clinical skills within a dynamic community setting?
We are seeking a motivated Band 6 therapist to join our friendly and supportive Community Therapy Team. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work autonomously across a diverse caseload, delivering high-quality assessment, rehabilitation and interventions to patients in their own homes.
You will play a key role in supporting people to maximise their independence, prevent hospital admissions and facilitate timely discharge from acute services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake holistic assessments, develop person-centred treatment plans and collaborate with health and social care colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills, experience managing complex patients, and a passion for delivering excellent community-based care. You will also contribute to service development, support students and junior staff, and participate in our seven-day service model.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Good standard of general education including, GCSE English and Maths grade C or above
- A Levels or equivalent qualification
- Degree / diploma in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy
- Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council
- Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality
Desirable
- Evidence of leadership training
- Fieldwork Educator's certificate or attendance at Clinical Educators Course
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs. This would usually be approximately 12 months and will include experience in Medical, Older People, Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Specialist knowledge and clinical experience across a range of practices, routine and non-routine. Previous / recent clinical experience working within a Community Therapy Service, completing domiciliary visits and admission prevention pathways.
- Previous and on-going attendance at mandatory training
- CPD portfolio
Desirable
- Experience and understanding of team / in-service development
- Supervision of Band 5 staff, students and assistants
- Previous and on-going attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the specialist clinical work
- Evidence of attendance at and delivery of in-service training
- Evidence of active involvement in clinical audit / R&D activity
- Experience of Vestibular assessment and intervention
Additional Criteria
Essential
- An ability to cope with moving / manoeuvring patients / equipment on a daily basis
- An ability to frequently concentrate on complex patient assessments and treatments
- To be able to work following the PPE measures in place
- An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing / emotional situations
- Be able to work within the requirements of the 7 day working scheme which will include extended hours and weekend working
- Where the post includes a requirement to travel the post-holder will be able to meet the travel requirements of the post, and as such it is essential to possess a full category B car driving licence preferably clean or with no more than a maximum of 3 points and have access to a vehicle with business use insurance
