Exciting Opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our fast paced and dynamic Acute Frailty Therapy Team in Queen’s Hospital.
Role Overview
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in a large and busy team you will be required to demonstrate leadership skills and be confident to work as an autonomous practitioner with a focus on early assessment and discharge planning, with rapid and robust decision-making essential for efficient patient flow.
Responsibilities
- Familiar with the assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive, and psychological health conditions within elderly and medical specialties to develop and deliver treatment and discharge plans.
- Works closely with the larger Multidisciplinary Team to care for acutely unwell frail patients attending the hospital.
- Facilitates safe and rapid discharge from hospital through collaborative decision-making with colleagues.
Locations
We are based in Queen’s Emergency Department, Frailty SDEC, Medical SDEC, Queen’s Frailty Unit, and an elderly inpatient ward in Queen’s Hospital.

Team Structure
- Integrated service with Occupational Therapy.
- Supported by Band 7 Physiotherapists, a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, and a Band 8a Clinical Lead.
- Supportive team with opportunities to develop both clinical and non-clinical skills, and access to internal and external courses.
Objectives
- Provide a high standard of physiotherapy service, facilitating and maximizing patient potential within the service boundaries.
- Fulfill a teaching and supervisory role with peers, Junior staff, and Students on placement.

- Regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre, and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.

- Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub.
- CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
