Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Chronic Pain Outpatient Service

This is a permanent Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) post within the Chronic Pain Outpatient Service.

You will function as an autonomous practitioner, providing advanced specialist assessment, clinical decision-making, and management for patients referred to the Chronic Pain Management Service.

The CNS will work with a high degree of professional autonomy within agreed protocols and scope of practice, exercising independent judgement in the management of patients and escalating highly complex cases appropriately to the Lead Clinician.

You will independently manage a defined caseload of patients with complex and persistent pain conditions, deliver nurse-led clinics, and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of chronic pain pathways. They will act as a clinical expert resource within the multidisciplinary team and contribute to service improvement, audit, education, and quality initiatives across the service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Us

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre, and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
