Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated and enthusiastic Operational Managers to join University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust on a permanent basis.
We Are Recruiting For
- One Operational Manager within Clinical Delivery Group CDG 9A (Surgical Speciality) - Major Trauma Services and Hands
- One Operational Manager within Clinical Delivery Group CDG 10B -- Haematology

These roles offer an excellent opportunity for ambitious NHS managers looking to develop their operational leadership skills within large, complex and dynamic clinical services.
Working closely with General Managers, Clinical Service Leads, Consultant teams and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of your designated services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care whilst supporting the achievement of Trust objectives and national performance standards.
The post holders will play a key role in delivering operational performance across a range of targets, including Referral to Treatment (RTT), Cancer Standards, diagnostic pathways, waiting list management, Theatres and service productivity. You will lead on performance monitoring, capacity and demand planning, risk management and service improvement initiatives, ensuring that patients receive timely access to high-quality care.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

- You will lead on performance monitoring, capacity and demand planning, risk management and service improvement initiatives, ensuring that patients receive timely access to high-quality care.
- You will contribute to strategic planning and operational delivery, working collaboratively with clinical and corporate colleagues to develop and improve services.
- You will be expected to analyse complex performance information, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and implement improvement plans that support both patient outcomes and organisational objectives.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good general level of education including core subjects at GCSE grades A -- C or equivalent
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent professional Management qualification
- Further management training and/or relevant managerial experience to post graduate diploma level
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working to NHS key performance and national standards
- Experience in handling confidential information
- Experience with dealing with patients, relatives and the general public
- Previous line management experience of staff
- Working Knowledge of waiting list systems
- Knowledge of NHS and aims of its structure
- Knowledge of medical staffing issues
- Knowledge of all the PAS systems

Desirable
- Experience of working to NHS key performance and national standards within Respiratory Medicine
- Experience in managing in-patient and outpatient waiting lists and designing and implementing mitigating actions as required
