Start Date: 5th October
Duration: 6 weeks initially with extension
Hourly Rate: £28 - £30
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Job Overview
Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Hospital & Prescribing Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to work within one of the UK's leading teaching hospitals, providing specialist pharmaceutical care and supporting safe prescribing practices across a range of clinical services.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines management, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical pharmacy services across designated wards and departments.
- Support safe and effective prescribing practices throughout the hospital.
- Undertake medicines reconciliation and clinical medication reviews.
- Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to medical, nursing, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Promote medicines optimisation and support the safe use of medicines.
- Contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care initiatives.
- Participate in clinical audits, governance activities, and service improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.

Qualifications and Experience
- Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Have previous NHS hospital pharmacy experience.
- Demonstrate experience working at Band 7 level or equivalent.
- Possess strong clinical knowledge and prescribing support experience.
- Have experience undertaking clinical medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.
- Be confident working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Independent Prescriber qualification is desirable but not essential.
