Job Summary

Build the connections that keep healthcare moving

Do you want to use your development and integration skills in a role where your work has a direct impact on patient care, staff experience and the safe running of hospital services?

At University Hospitals Birmingham, our Integration Team develops and supports the digital connections that allow clinical and corporate systems to share information safely, reliably and effectively. These integrations help ensure that the right information is available to the right people, supporting better decisions, smoother services and reduced risk across the Trust.

We are looking for a Senior Integration Programmer to join our specialist IT Services team. You will work with technologies including Rhapsody, HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON and REST services, taking a leading role in designing, developing, testing and improving integration solutions.

This is an opportunity to join a skilled and supportive team where your expertise will be valued. You will help shape best practice, mentor colleagues, improve how we work and contribute to digital services that support one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts.

Previous applicants need not apply.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

As a Senior Integration Programmer, you will:

  • Design, develop, test and support integrations that enable secure exchange of information across clinical and corporate systems.
  • Create integration solutions using Rhapsody, HL7, FHIR, REST services, XML and JSON.
  • Lead technical delivery on integration projects, ensuring solutions are robust, reliable and meet best practice.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve issues, helping maintain high service availability.
  • Create and execute test plans, support releases and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, translating requirements into effective solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, peer review and mentor team members to support development.
  • Contribute to development of standards, processes and documentation to improve quality and consistency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
