Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled, motivated and dynamic Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the established Surgical Therapy Team at University Hospitals Liverpool Group. Based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, you will lead the Occupational Therapy Service across a range of surgical specialties, including Urology, Colorectal, Hepato-Biliary, Upper GI, Ophthalmology and General Surgery. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate Occupational Therapist with substantial post-registration surgical and rehabilitation experience to further develop their leadership and specialist clinical skills within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Working within an acute surgical setting, you will deliver evidence-based rehabilitation interventions to support recovery, maximise independence and improve outcomes for patients, including those living with frailty. You will play a key role in service development, including improving pathways for trauma outlier patients, driving quality improvement initiatives and influencing future service delivery.

The post holder will support the development of Occupational Therapy services in line with the trusts vision and values. The role involves providing expert assessment, treatment planning, clinical reasoning, risk management and problem-solving to maximise functional independence, reduce length of stay and support safe and timely discharge. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, compassion, sound clinical judgement, flexibility and effective leadership skills. They will provide line management, supervision, appraisal and training for Band 6 and Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants and students, with support from Therapy Managers. Working closely with Physiotherapy colleagues, the wider Critical Care and Respiratory therapy teams, multidisciplinary teams, patients, carers and external agencies, the post holder will contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives. Weekend working is required in line with service needs.
