About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join the Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in King's Lynn, covering the West Norfolk Locality. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established service supporting older adults with a broad range of psychological, emotional, and cognitive difficulties. The role offers experience across both functional mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, psychosis and complex emotional presentations, as well as organic conditions, including dementia and related neurocognitive disorders.

We are keen to attract applicants with a strong interest in older adult mental health and welcome applications from newly qualified Clinical Psychologists through a structured Band 7 to Band 8a preceptorship pathway.

Our Service

The West Norfolk Older Adults CMHT provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment and intervention for older adults experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. The team works closely with service users, families, carers, primary care colleagues and wider health and social care partners to deliver person-centred, psychologically informed care.

As a Clinical Psychologist within the West Norfolk Older Adults Community Mental Health Team, you will:

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for older adults presenting with a wide range of functional and organic mental health difficulties.
  • Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to individuals, families and carers, drawing upon your specialist training and expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, multidisciplinary colleagues and partner agencies to support recovery, wellbeing and quality of life.
  • Provide psychological consultation, advice and formulation to multidisciplinary team colleagues working with complex presentations.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, risk management and decision-making processes.
  • Undertake work with older adults experiencing cognitive impairment and dementia, including supporting carers and systems around the individual.
  • Provide teaching, training and clinical supervision to colleagues, assistants, trainees and other professionals where appropriate.
  • Support psychologically informed approaches within community, residential and inpatient settings as required.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit, research and evaluation initiatives.
  • Support the ongoing development of psychologically informed practice across the Older Adults Service.
