Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a highly specialist, passionate, and established team supporting some of the most vulnerable children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
Clinical Team Lead - CAMHS Learning Disability Service (Band 8a)
Are you an experienced and inspirational leader with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with Intellectual Developmental Disability and complex mental health needs?
We are looking for a dynamic Clinical Team Lead to provide visible clinical and operational leadership to our well-established CAMHS Learning Disability Team of approximately 25 multidisciplinary staff. The team delivers specialist assessment, treatment, and intervention for children and young people with moderate to profound Intellectual Developmental Disability, alongside co-occurring mental health conditions, neurodevelopmental disorders, and complex behavioral presentations.
As Team Lead, you will drive high-quality, evidence-based care, ensuring safe, effective, and timely services across both outpatient and outreach pathways. You will lead a team comprising registered and non-registered clinicians and administrative staff, promoting excellence in clinical practice, service development, workforce wellbeing, and performance.
We are seeking a confident and compassionate leader with significant experience in Learning Disability and Mental Health services, strong clinical credibility, and a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams. Experience within children's mental health or children's learning disability services would be an advantage, but is not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
