Job Description

The Point of Care Testing Team within Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services offer Partnered Trusts an on-site, Rapid Respiratory Service that tests for Influenza, RSV and COVID with a fast turn around time.

We are looking for candidates to join our bank staff who can offer significant availability for night shifts and are able to work at 1 or more sites stated in the job description:

  • Wexham Park Hospital
  • Frimley Park Hospital
  • Royal Surrey County Hospital - Guildford
  • Royal Berkshire Hospital - Reading
  • Ashford and St Peters Hospitals – Chertsey
  • East Surrey Hospital - Reigate

During the winter months, the service is expanded and we require enthusiastic and flexible individuals to join the team.

The postholder could be based at any of the six hospital sites within the Berkshire Surrey Pathology network of hospitals, candidates booked for interview will be asked for what sites can be covered.

This is an ideal opportunity for a science student or someone who has always wanted to move into the scientific services arena.

This role is a great opportunity for a science minded person to develop their knowledge and skill set in a laboratory/clinical environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual to work as part of the Point of Care Testing Team, providing a 24/7 service processing samples to investigate for COVID and other respiratory viruses.

The ability to follow standardised processes is vital, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good communication skills and team working are essential.

The work entails day to cover of processing samples, interacting with clinical staff and other Trust employees.

Keeping detail records of data required to monitor the quality of the service we provide.

Multi tasking and working under pressure is important to the service to facilitate strict results turnaround times.
