Job Introduction Package Description

As a Bank Catering Assistant within HCRG Care Group, you’ll be part of a supportive and friendly catering team helping to provide high quality meals and refreshments to patients, staff and visitors at Sheppey Community Hospital.

This flexible bank role offers the opportunity to work shifts around your availability while gaining experience within a healthcare environment.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Catering Assistant to join our busy Hospital Catering Team on a bank basis.

You will play an important role in supporting patient wellbeing by helping deliver high quality food and refreshments within a safe, hygienic and caring environment. The role will support both patient catering services and the hospital restaurant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors
  • Deliver patient meals accurately, professionally and courteously
  • Assist with basic food preparation and stock rotation
  • Maintain cleanliness within kitchen, dining and service areas
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and infection prevention procedures at all times
  • Operate catering equipment safely and responsibly
  • Support the catering team during busy service periods
  • Wash utensils, trays and kitchen equipment
  • Ensure dietary requirements and allergen procedures are followed correctly

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A caring, professional and customer-focused approach
  • Flexible availability to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays
  • Good awareness of cleanliness and food hygiene standards

Desirable:

  • Previous catering, kitchen or hospitality experience
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification
  • Experience working within healthcare or large-scale catering environments
