BANK Domestic & Catering Assistants Across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

The Facilities Staff Bank offers a flexible way to work within NHSSGGC. Whether you're looking for work around your studies, family commitments, another job or simply want more control over your hours, Bank working allows you to pick up shifts that suit your availability. It's a great way to gain experience within the NHS, earn extra income and support vital services, while maintaining a good work-life balance. Enhanced hourly rates are paid for weekends and before 06:00 and after 20:00 during the week.

Domestic Assistants

Domestic Assistants play an important role in maintaining clean, safe and welcoming healthcare environments for patients, visitors and staff. Duties include cleaning a range of clinical and non-clinical areas, carrying out tasks such as mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning toilet and bathroom facilities, emptying bins, replenishing consumable supplies and ensuring fixtures, fittings and furnishings are maintained to the required standards.

Catering Assistants

Catering Assistants support the delivery of food services across NHSGGC. Responsibilities include serving and delivering meals to patients, assisting with food preparation and meal regeneration, plating meals for service, supporting hospital and departmental catering functions, and ensuring catering equipment, crockery and work areas are cleaned and maintained in accordance with food hygiene standards.

You Must

  • Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of your employment.
  • Provide two references covering the previous three years.

Applications that do not include the required reference information will not be progressed.

If successful, candidates must complete the following mandatory requirements prior to starting onsite:

  • A 2-day centralised induction
  • A Bank Induction session
  • Orientation shifts at their allocated site to familiarise themselves with local procedures and working practices

All components must be fully completed before candidates can commence work on the bank.

Interviews are planned for the week commencing 19 October 2026 and may take place at various NHSGGC locations.
