Job Description
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate a positive “can do” attitude to work, and can demonstrate the qualities required of a caring professional working within the NHS. We are recruiting for caring, positive, and dependable people to join our team in the role of a Bank Hospital Support Assistant.
H.S.A’s are an integral part of the Hospitals operations, working on Wards and Departments providing all of our cleaning and catering responsibilities. A typical day for a H.S.A would include:
- Wet mopping
- Vacuuming
- Emptying bins
- Replenishing supplies
- Cleaning fixtures, furniture and toilet / bathroom areas
- Delivering beverages and meals to our patients
- Carrying out kitchen duties, in ward catering facilities
Whilst a comprehensive training package will give you the skills and knowledge to work effectively as a H.S.A, we want to learn from your application how you can meet the minimum of the essential criteria in our person specification, and perhaps even exceed this minimum standard. We support the continuous development of our staff so regular refreshers of training take place.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
