Occupational Therapist Opportunity at Barnet Hospital

We have an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Therapy Team at Barnet Hospital - part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This post is via the staff Bank and would involve working up to 37.5 hours per week.

Therapy Services Provided

The Therapy teams at Barnet Hospital provide an integrated therapy service in the following areas:

• Stroke
• Neurology
• Emergency Department and Admission Avoidance
• Acute Medicine
• Surgery (including Head & Neck surgery)
• Acute Respiratory Care (including Non-Invasive Ventilation) across the Enhanced Care Unit and ward
• Critical Care
• Acute cardiology
• Health Services for Elderly People (HSEP)
• Trauma & Orthopaedics

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload and supervise other staff as appropriate, whilst being supported by highly skilled and experienced band 7 and 8 staff in the relevant specialty.

• To manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based/patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions.
• To provide leadership for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor.
• To supervise occupational therapy students on practice placements.
• To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner whilst facilitating effective multidisciplinary care within relevant clinical areas.
• To work in an integrated therapy team including other occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, speech and language therapists, therapy support workers and administration support.
• To provide an advanced standard of occupational therapy assessment and treatment to inpatients without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from a team lead is available as and when required. Clinical work is routinely evaluated.
• To work with patient’s families or carers to provide an advanced level of support, education and expectation of the outcome of the inpatient stay.
