Bank Pharmacy Assistant | Spire Little Aston Hospital | Flexible Working

Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy Department on the Bank. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with customer service or pharmacy experience to work within a supportive and professional healthcare environment while enjoying the flexibility that bank working offers.
As part of our Pharmacy team, you'll play a vital role in supporting the safe, efficient, and effective supply of medicines across the hospital, helping us deliver an outstanding experience for patients and clinicians alike.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will support the Pharmacy Team in delivering a high-quality service to patients and hospital departments, ensuring medicines are managed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the delivery of pharmaceutical care across the hospital.
- Supporting the safe handling, storage, movement, and management of medicines.
- Assisting with stock control and stock management activities.
- Updating and maintaining pharmacy records and electronic systems.
- Supporting the Pharmacy Team to ensure medicines are supplied accurately and efficiently.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and patients as part of routine daily activities.
- Assisting with the maintenance and development of pharmacy services.
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and service excellence.
- Supporting compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, infection prevention, and security.
- Taking responsibility for ongoing learning and personal development.

Who We're Looking For
We are seeking an organised, proactive individual who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
Essential
- Previous customer-facing experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience working within a team environment.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
- Basic awareness of health, safety, and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work accurately and follow procedures.
Desirable
- Previous pharmacy experience.
- S/NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or working towards the qualification).
- Experience within a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Experience in stock management, checking, monitoring, and administrative processes.
