Are you an experienced finance professional with strong reconciliation skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for investigating and resolving discrepancies?

We're looking for a Bank Reconciliation Officer to join our Finance team in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions across the business, while developing your career with one of the UK's leading consumer law firms.

As a Bank Reconciliation Officer, you'll be responsible for reconciling bank accounts, identifying and investigating discrepancies, and working closely with colleagues across the business to ensure transactions are processed correctly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analysing data, solving problems, and maintaining high standards of financial accuracy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Performing daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
  • Identifying, investigating, and resolving unreconciled items and transaction discrepancies.
  • Monitoring the movement of funds through various accounts and ensuring all transactions have been processed correctly.
  • Producing accurate reconciliation reports and management information.
  • Assisting with audit requests by providing supporting documentation and reconciliation evidence.
  • Liaising with internal departments and external banking providers to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and in line with company procedures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function.
  • Using Microsoft Excel to analyse, validate, and reconcile large volumes of financial data.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a bank reconciliation, finance, accounts, or financial services role.
  • Strong understanding of reconciliation processes and investigating financial discrepancies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large data sets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
  • Experience producing financial reports and supporting audits would be advantageous.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
