Registered Nurse | Pre-Assessment | Bank | Harpenden | Weekdays Only

Spire Harpenden Hospital is recruiting a Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Assessment Department on a Bank Contract.

You will join a friendly, supportive and experienced team, working flexible weekday shifts between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse to utilise their assessment skills within a specialist area, ensuring patients are fully prepared and optimised for surgery.

A Bank contract at Spire Healthcare is a flexible employment agreement where you are not committed to a set number of hours per week. Instead, you work on an ad hoc basis, filling shifts that are available within the department. Bank working is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility, allowing you to choose shifts that fit around your availability while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Bank contracts can also provide an excellent opportunity to supplement existing employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive pre-operative assessments for patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures.
  • Obtain and document detailed medical histories and relevant clinical information.
  • Perform clinical observations and baseline assessments.
  • Identify potential risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Coordinate investigations, diagnostics and referrals as required.
  • Ensure all patient records, assessments and documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote high standards of patient care, safety and clinical governance.
  • Maintain compliance with NMC standards, hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
