Job Opportunity: Registered Nurses & Senior Nurses in Prison Service

Oxleas NHS Trust were awarded the South West prison contract in 2022 and currently have a portfolio of 19 prisons across the South of England. We are currently looking to expand our pool of bank workers by recruiting Registered Nurses & Senior Nurses to work within the Prison Service on a flexible basis.
About the Role
Our healthcare team have a real impact on promoting health and well-being to those in prison, and we pride ourselves on using skills and strategies that instil hope for patients' future resettlement back into the community. We directly deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy, and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to provide effective and responsive care to improve wellbeing and support better outcomes in the future.
Requirements
- Registered nurses at band 5 or 6 (banding to be discussed at interview and is based on experience).
- Completion of preceptorship training or 6 months post-qualification experience.
Responsibilities
Registered Nurse:
- Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy.
- Plan and reach complex and critical judgments.
- Deliver high-quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, which will include acute & primary care, long-term conditions management, enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services, and health promotion activities.
- Demonstrate and provide robust expert clinical skills with a sound understanding of evidence-based nursing practice to provide a proactive approach to ensure quality & outcome-driven practice on a day-to-day basis.

Senior Nurse:
- Provide high-quality primary care services and a range of specialist interventions for offenders.
- Deliver a nurse-led integrated primary care service and operate a specialist practice-based clinical model of care.
- Deliver primary care, emergency response, and first night in custody/new registration services.
- Maintain an effective case management service to ensure care and continuity of treatment is maintained throughout a patient care pathway while detained in prison.
- Ensure all clinics and consultations are delivered in a clinically effective and timely way.
- Implement strategies designed to promote and improve health and prevent disease while in prison.
