Our Surgery Centre provides exceptional surgical care across a range of specialties in a modern, patient-focused environment. Working alongside leading consultants and multidisciplinary teams, the department is dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout every stage of the patient journey.
Clinical excellence, patient safety, and outstanding outcomes are at the heart of everything we do. The theatre team plays a critical role in supporting complex and routine procedures, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of perioperative care in a safe and supportive setting.
About the Role
As a Bank Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care within the operating theatre environment. Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will ensure surgical procedures are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest clinical standards.
You will be responsible for preparing theatres and equipment, providing skilled scrub support during procedures, and maintaining a sterile environment at all times. Acting as an integral member of the theatre team, you will anticipate the needs of the surgeon, manage instrumentation effectively, and contribute to excellent surgical outcomes.
The role requires strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical governance. You will also contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of theatre services and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care throughout the perioperative pathway
- Act as Scrub Practitioner across a range of surgical specialties, maintaining professional and clinical standards
- Prepare operating theatres, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables for procedures
- Maintain and monitor sterile fields in accordance with theatre protocols and best practice
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide effective support during procedures
- Complete accurate instrument, swab, and needle counts in line with local policies
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control, health and safety, and safeguarding requirements
- Assist with the safe handling, maintenance, and checking of theatre equipment
- Accurately complete clinical documentation and theatre records
- Escalate clinical, equipment, or operational concerns promptly and appropriately
- Support governance activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Work flexibly and collaboratively to support service delivery and operational needs

About You
You are a qualified Theatre Scrub Practitioner, registered as either a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, with experience working within an operating theatre environment.
You possess excellent clinical and technical skills, with a strong understanding of perioperative practice and patient safety principles. You are confident working in a multidisciplinary setting and demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail in everything you do.
You communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, maintaining a calm and positive approach even in busy or complex situations. Committed to delivering outstanding patient care, you consistently uphold high clinical standards and contribute positively to team performance and service quality.

Recruitment Process
For this role, there will potentially be four stages;
