The Post Holder Will

• Act as an expert within the highly specialised area of R&D finance, advising and resolving queries from other directorates on R&D finance accounting and liaising with Finance Directors and Head of Finance on complex matters relating to accounting for research funding.
• Ensure senior managers and directors within R&D and other finance staff within the trust adhere to the complex rules around R&D income and expenditure.
• Develop and implement financial strategies and R&D Finance Policy for the management and recovery of the trust’s R&D income and expenditure.
• Development of appropriate systems and procedures and overlooking implementation of new initiatives to allow the effective and efficient management and recovery of R&D income.
• Lead on the development and implementation of policies and SOPs pertaining to the effective and efficient management all aspects of research finance.
• Be responsible for the continuous development and improvement of the R&D finance processes, reporting, policies and SOPs.
• Overlooking all financial reporting to the R&D directorate and Central Finance Head of Corporate Finance, and Finance Directors and CFO.
• Lead the financial input into the production of the R&D annual/quarterly returns for all NIHR funding sources and to coordinate other mandated reporting of the trust’s R&D finance performance in line with external deadlines.
