We are looking for a dynamic Bank Orthopaedic Practitioner/plaster technician to join our Team

We are looking for a dynamic Bank Orthopaedic Practitioner/plaster technician to join our Team of talented, dedicated people committed to providing the very best in orthopaedic and orthopaedic trauma injury care.

The plaster room is the central hub for the orthopaedic clinics and this role demands team leadership and a positive, innovative and forward-thinking individual. They must be a proficient independent practitioner as well as being able to work in a larger team. The plaster room supports orthopaedic and fracture clinics, theatres, ED and the wards to maintain a high standard of care.

At SWFT we support individual’s development and this role requires applicants to demonstrate evidence of teaching and training others, with ideally a mentorship course. The role will involve working as part of an established and evolving team in the plaster room, educating the plaster technician trainees, other health care professionals and teaching on the in-house plaster course Modules.

The applicant will be expected to co-ordinate the plaster clinics, give specialist advice and deal with complex care requirements. Workloads can be challenging and physically demanding in the Plaster Room and the applicant must be able to prioritise, multitask and have excellent customer care in busy clinics dealing with adults and children.

The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for providing a specialist casting and splinting service while working to deliver a high standard of casting and patient care.

To be the primary point of contact in the Plaster Room, providing technical and professional support within clinical areas, wards and theatres ensuring that patients are not unduly delayed in the discharge process.

You will be forward thinking and foster an innovative and learning environment for Technicians and other multidisciplinary professional staff. In light of this, it is essential the post holder continues with their professional development in line with the BOA guidelines, facilitate learning and contribute to the professional development of medical and nursing staff.

The post holder will participate in audits and research as required, undertake administrative duties incl. stock ordering and control, data collection etc. To assist with the operation of the plaster room services and activity to include daily operational issues.

The post holder needs to be professionally accountable and to work according to the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners (AOP) and British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) code of professional practice.
