Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Bank Staff Nurse based on Isle of Arran.
What You Will Do
With supervision and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, the nurse will as a member of the nursing team be accountable for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care for a defined caseload of patients working within the professional standards held in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, ensuring safe working practices of his / herself and others and working within their own recognised Scope of Practice. According to agreed competencies the bank nurse may carry out this work in hospital and / or community settings.
The nurse will work with the shift leader within the ward or department guided by local and national protocols, procedures and guidelines, making decisions based on best practice evidence and assist in monitoring the work of the nursing team and supporting colleagues to provide safe and effective nursing care.
Occasionally the nurse will supervise and advise junior registered and non-registered staff and may have justification to contribute to the development of teaching and learning programs within the ward or department.
Where appropriate, take opportunities available to undertake further education and develop interests to support and benefit the ward or department. There should be an understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine, which require a base level of theoretical knowledge. This is normally acquired through formal training or equivalent experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
