Banking Adviser, Newmarket

Newmarket Branch

Permanent, fulltime position

Mō Te Tūranga – About The Role

As a Banking Adviser, you’re the friendly face people look forward to seeing — the person who can turn a routine banking errand into a genuinely great experience. You’ll create those memorable “wow” moments every day, whether you’re helping someone open their very first account, guiding a small business owner through their next big move, or uncovering the unspoken needs that help customers feel more confident and in control of their money. You’ll bring curiosity, warmth, and sharp listening skills to every conversation, matching customers with the right products, tools, and advice to make their financial lives easier and more empowering.

You’ll thrive here if you love people, love a challenge, and love being part of a community. In this role, you’ll champion digital banking, deepen relationships with existing customers, welcome new ones into the Westpac whānau, and help us grow our presence in the neighbourhood. From everyday banking to KiwiSaver, insurance, and beyond, you’ll be the steady, trusted guide who makes customers feel supported at every step — all while contributing to our mission to be truly customer‑obsessed. If you’re energised by meaningful conversations, fast‑paced days, and the chance to make a real difference, this is where you’ll shine.

Nā tāu rourou – What you’ll bring?

Maybe you’re a recent graduate, or maybe you’re simply ready for a new challenge — this is your moment to step into the banking world and build a career you can be proud of. We’re looking for someone who has energy, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping others. You love great conversations, you’re confident with technology, and you’re motivated by achieving strong outcomes for customers and the business. You’re organised, adaptable, and ready to grow your career in a place that values your ideas and celebrates your success.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
